Disney is looking into launching a free streaming option. When asked about Disney\u2019s plans for free, ad-supported streaming during an earnings call on Wednesday, Disney CEO Josh D\u2019Amaro confirmed the company is \u201cexploring a free product for consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
D\u2019Amaro added that a free tier will help drive growth and expand the streaming service\u2019s reach \u201cto a customer segment that\u2019s more price sensitive.\u201d Though D\u2019Amaro said that there\u2019s \u201cnothing specific to announce today,\u201d he noted that a free tier is \u201cdefinitely something that we\u2019re considering.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Next year, Disney plans to expand the Disney Plus ecosystem as part of efforts to make it the \u201cdigital centerpiece\u201d of the company. That includes \u201cbringing together games, merchandise, and other experiences, while offering increased personalization, exclusivity, and benefits for subscribers,\u201d according to D\u2019Amaro. The company also announced that it\u2019s partnering with TikTok to bring \u201cDisney-centric fan-created content\u201d to the short-form video feed in Disney Plus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
